Our target standard
We are working towards conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, Level AA. For the BizTracker mobile app we apply the same WCAG AA principles as an equivalent offline standard, alongside Android platform accessibility guidance.
How accessible BizTracker currently is
BizTracker has improved in the areas we have recently worked on. The HMRC connection and reporting experience now provides clearer screen-reader labels and more descriptive action text, and the main PDF actions are now easier to understand when using assistive technology.
- We have added explicit accessibility labels and semantics to the HMRC connection banner and the connect/disconnect buttons.
- We have improved the labels and tooltips for PDF preview and share actions.
- We now include an automated regression test to help protect the HMRC connection banner semantics as the app evolves.
- We continue to review contrast and interactive controls across the wider app and will address any remaining issues as they are identified.
What already works
- The app now exposes screen-reader-friendly labels for the HMRC connection state and the main connect/disconnect actions.
- Key report actions now have clearer labels for assistive technologies.
- Our automated Flutter tests now cover the HMRC connection banner accessibility behaviour.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We are continuing to review BizTracker against WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Recent work included improving semantics for the HMRC connection flow and the report export experience, and we now use a targeted regression test to help keep those labels working as the app evolves. We will keep refining the app and complete further audits of other screens and interactions.
